Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she moved to Florence, Italy in the early 1980's, where she has been an active member of the local community. A Durant Scholar/Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wellesley College, she completed her education at Harvard Law School in 1979.
Together with an Italian partner and various collaborators, she is active in the field of international law, with particular emphasis on Italy-USA cross-border transactions and intellectual property licensing.
She is one of the founding members of the TAA's Professional Women's Committee, dedicated to initiatives aimed at promoting greater cultural exchange and networking among Italian and American professional women, as well as actively involved in supporting various Italy/USA commercial initiatives.
