Cultivating friendship between the USA and Tuscany

through cultural, social and educational activities

The Tuscan American Association Onlus, presided by its co-presidents Andrea Davis and Federico Frediani, holds a welcome ceremony every year for American students who initiate their studies in the various universities located in Tuscany. One of the Association’s main objectives is to enhance cultural exchanges between Tuscany and the United States, and the ceremony is an important institutional event organized with the City of Florence.

This year Welcome Day will be held on Wednesday, October 25th at 5:00 pm in the Salone de’ 500 of Palazzo Vecchio. Opening remarks will be made by the Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella and Vice-Mayor of Florence Cristina Giachi, the Consul General of the US Consulate General in Florence Benjamin V. Wohlauer, as well as by the TAA’s two Co-Presidents.

The pop group “Vocal Blue Trains” directed by Alessandro Gerini will perform during the event.

On October 10th at the Palazzo Vecchio in the Salone dei Cinquescento will be the customary WELCOME DAY, the welcome ceremony for students of American Universities present in Florence. The Welcome Day 2016 is characterized as an authentic Tuscan welcome to the community of American students, who will be for a few months real citizens of Florence.

The co-presidents of the Tuscan American Association ONLUS, Andrea Davis and Federico Frediani, are pleased to invite you to the Welcome Day ceremony organized for American students who initiate their studies in the various universities located in Tuscany, which will be held Tuesday, October 10 at 5:00 pm in the Salone dei 500 of Palazzo Vecchio. Among the Association’s main objectives is enhancing cultural exchanges between Tuscany and the United States, and the ceremony is among the events that are organized each year with much success.  Opening remarks will be made by the Vice Mayor of Florence Ms. Cristina Giachi, the Vice Consul General  of the United States of America in Florence Mr. R. Scott macintosh, as well as by the two Co-Presidents. A dance performance will be offered by the Florence Dance Company under the artistic direction of Marga Nativo, dedicated to the theme of water on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the flood of November 4, 1966.

This will be followed by the ceremony for the Tuscan American Award, given each year on the occasion of Welcome Day to two award recipients, one Tuscan and the other American, who have contributed significantly to further develop the ties of friendship and exchange between the United States and Tuscany. Award presented by Vice Console Macintosh to Mr. Sandro Mencucci, Executive Director of ACF Fiorentina Spa. Vice Mayor Giachi will present the award to the American People for the assistance given at the time of the flood of November 4, 1966.

4th of july 2016

TAA and Harding University celebrated the 4th July Independence Day at Acciaiolo Castle in Scandicci.
Also present were the Consul General in Florence and the Mayor of Scandicci. The public also consists of numerous American students appreciated the succession of various rock bands who have performed with great success until late at night.

memorialday 2016 002On May 30, 2016 was held at the cemetery of Falciani Memorial Day 2016.

They were attended by the US Ambassador John R. Phillips, the US Consul in Florence.

The co-presidents of the TAA participated and have laid a wreath at the shrine of the cemetery to witness the gratitude constraint that the TAA members have always had towards the fallen American soldiers to free Tuscany from Nazi occupation.

 

The day May 12, 2016 was held in the Medici villa of Poggio a Caiano the conference headquarters of Filippo Mazzei on the occasion of the celebrations for the second centenary of his death. The cooPresident the association is portrayed during his speech in Leonex room.

visita craig holmanRecently Craig Holman has visited Florence. Currently Government affairs lobbyst for Public Citizen, he gave a lecture on lobbying system in US last May 11, 2016.
