On October 8th at the Palazzo Vecchio in the Salone dei CCinquescento will be the customary WELCOME DAY, the welcome ceremony for students of American Universities present in Florence.
The Welcome Day 2014 is characterized as an authentic Tuscan welcome to the community of American students, who will be for a few months real citizens of Florence.
The Tuscan American Association, the Osservatorio Mestieri d'Arte, the GenerazioniContatti Onlus - through its campaign Beviconlatesta - and the Mercato Centrale, are the organizers of the event, which will be held starting at 17.30 in the Salone dei Cinquecento with the welcome address by the Mayor of Florence and the Ambassador of the United States of America, with the delivery of the Prize "Tuscany-USA 2014". The event will go to 18.30 in Sala d'Arme, with a presentation of arts and crafts workshops LWA with the Atelier degli Artigianelli. At 19:30, into the Mercato Centrale, followed by a tasting of local products.
WELCOME DAY 2014 PROGRAM
5:00 p.m. – Salone dei 500 - Palazzo Vecchio
Welcome salute from the Mayor Dario Nardella and U.S. Ambassador John Phillips Awards given to - Polimoda, International Institute of Fashion Design and Marketing, Mr. Ferruccio Ferragamo will receive the award and Dr. Steven M Altschuler, M.D., CEO of The Philadelphia Children’s Hospital, for his work with and collaboration with the
Meyer Children's Hospital of Florence. Florence Dance Festival Keith Ferrone and Marga Nativo, celebrating their 25th anniversary will be recognized.
6:30 p.m. – Sala d'Arme - Palazzo Vecchio
Students will be given a coaster during the first ceremony in the "Salone dei 500".
This will give them access to the Sala D'Arme.
Drink and snack in the Sala D'Arme
Booths featureing OMA artisan worshops, free "Help the Children Florence" t-shirts, and Testadialkol and Drinking on the right side information and gadget.
During this part of the event students will receive instructions and a bracelet that will give them access to the final Welcome night event at the Mercato Centrale.
During the dance performance this year at the Welcome Day 2014, we will be proposing the Florence Energy Welcome Wave as a flash mob participation for all the students and guests present at the event. Students will be escorted, if needed, to the Mercato Centrale for free foods and drink.
